Iran will form its first team of astronauts by March 21, Muhammad Al-Ibrahimi, head of the Center for Aerospace Studies, said, Trend reports.
The official added that the team will be formed from military pilots. China and Russia are expected to help Iran in the initiative. Astronauts will be sent to the two states for training.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran had sent a monkey into space as part of the program. A man is to be sent by 2017.
