Russia has fulfilled is 2011 defense orders 100%, RIA Novosti cites Lieutenant-Colonel Sergey Vlasov, spokesman of the Defense Ministry, as saying.
Over 10,000 units of military equipment were purchased. The military received BTR-82A armored vehicles, BREM evacuation vehicles, KamAZ and Ural trucks capable of carrying 2.5 tons of cargo. T-72s tanks and BTR-80 armored vehicles were modernized.
BTR-82A has been in service for almost a year. Its cannon was stabilized. It has an improved engine with 300 horse power, rather than 260. Kazakhstan expressed interest in purchasing it.
T-72s are to be modernized by 2014, 70% of them will be replaced by 2020. They have extra range and need 33% less time for fire.
