Polls held at 21 polling stations declared illegitimate in Russia

Results at recent parliamentary elections held in Russia have been declared illegitimate, deputy head of the Central Elections Commission Leonid Ivlyev said, ITAR-TASS reports.

The official promised that people responsible for the law violations will be punished.

The measure was taken after a series of demonstrations held in many Russian cities, with the largest rally gathering 80 thousand people in Moscow.

Opposition parties say the elections were unfair, as do the EU, the US and the OSCE.
