A summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was held today in the Russian capital Moscow. The parties agreed to discuss establishment of military bases of non-CSTO states on the territory of the alliance.
Russian president Dmitry Medvedev hailed the agreement, saying it's a remarkable step towards political integration of the post-Soviet countries.
However, Russian political analyst Vladimir Yevseyev seems sceptical. According to him, the CSTO is far from being a powerful military alliance like NATO.
The CSTO member-states are, in fact, indifferent to each other's internal affairs and reluctant to help their neighbours, the expert believes.
