The EU Council of Ministers has permitted the European Commission to start negotiations on simplifying the visa regime and readmission with Armenia and Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.
The council made the decision in Brussels on Monday. The initiative aims to reduce the number of documents needed for receiving a visa, reduce the visa payment and simplify its issuing to athletes, journalists and businessmen.
Then the EU Council of Ministers are due to sign and summarize agreements on readmission and simplification of the visa regime, after which the European Parliament will need to pass the documents.
