Russian president appoints new chief of staff

 

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed former deputy prime minister Sergey Ivanov head of the presidential administration on Thursday, RIA Novosti cites president's spokesperson Natalya Timakova as saying.

 

“Sergey Ivanov has been appointed by order of Medvedev’s decree,” Timakova said.

 

Ivanov, who served as Defense Minister in 2001-2007, replaces Sergey Naryshkin, who was named parliamentary speaker on Wednesday.
