Addressing the Federal Assembly this week, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said the country needs political reforms in order to improve democracy and establish civil society. VK asked an expert to comment on the president's initiative.
Head of the Political Situation Center Alexey Chesnakov believes that political reforms should be consistent. "Consistency is the crucial point," says the expert adding that both President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin have already said that such certain changes in the political system are necessary. The thing is what measures will be taken, Chesnakov underlines.
It's very important that such initiative came right after parliamentary elections that mark the beginning of a new political season, the expert thinks.
