The inauguration of President of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic Yevgeny Shevchuk should be held in Tiraspol on December 30, RIA Novosti reported.
"The transfer of power should occur in a stable environment. I call on all the structures of the executive branch to perform fully its obligations until the formation of new institutions of state and local government," he said.
Former Speaker of the Parliament, leader of the "Renaissance" movement Yevgeny Shevchuk won 73.88% of the vote in the second round of elections. The current chairman of the Supreme Soviet, Anatoly Kaminsky scored 19.67% of the vote. According to some data, 51.74% of the citizens able to vote came to the voting stations. This is lower than in the first round of December 11 when the turnout was 58.88%.
Shevchuk listed priorities that he intends to implement as the president of the country. Among them he named a gradual, smooth transition of power and the support of national currency.
According to him, the procedure for appointing the heads of administrations will be revised. Shevchuk said that they might be elected. He promised that "the structure of governance in the end will be more effective."
Among other priorities, he mentioned reducing unemployment and social projects connected to large businesses.
With regard to foreign relations, Shevchuk admitted that he is ready to interact with anyone in the Moldovan leadership. "We will be prepared for any meetings, if there are specific proposals, specific actions to improve the lives of our citizens," he said.
He also noted that even before the end of the year they will make the necessary legislative changes to facilitate crossing the border between Transnistria and Moldova.
His first visit as president Yevgeny Shevchuk will make to Moscow.
