Behind the riots that occurred in Zhanaozen, causing 16 deaths according to authorities, stood organized crime groups, said Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"Now the investigation should not only to identify the reasons, but the organizers of these events. Previously, we learned that the organized criminal groups stood behind them - they shared the money, they had to hide their "tails" therefore they arranged the arsons”, ITAR-TASS quotes Nazarbayev’s words at a meeting with the leadership of his administration, the government and "Nur Otan" party.
Nazarbayev also acknowledged some responsibility of the authorities that were directly responsible for solving labor disputes, but “demonstrated irresponsibility and were, in fact, misleading."
