Passing of the bill on the so-called Armenian Genocide by the French Parliament would harm its international image, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said, 1news.az reports.
The deputy minister said that such an initiative is a most unusual step for a state co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group. Azimov believes that the bill is based on a “false history” of Armenians. He expressed regret at France’s initiative and emphasized that Azerbaijan shares the position of Turkey.
The lower chamber of the French Parliament passed a bill on criminal prosecution for denying the Armenian Genocide.
