LAS monitors describe situation in Homs as satisfactory

The monitoring mission of the Arab League (LAS) in Syria has described the situation in Homs as satisfactory, Reuters cites the head of the Sudanese group, General Ahmed Mustafa ad-Dabi, as saying.

The LAS observers arrived in Damascus on Monday and began the monitoring mission in Homs on Tuesday where the most violent clashes between the law enforcers and protesters are taking place, as media report. There were no collisions yesterday, no tanks, only a few armored vehicles, ad-Dabi said.

The general also noted that 20 members of the mission will remain for a long time in the cities of Hama, Damascus (the capital) and Idlib in the northern part of Syria.
