Ankara’s answer on the acceptance of “Armenian genocide” by Swedish Parliament will be strict – said Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu who is now in Finland with an informal visit – reports Trend News agency quoting CNN Turk.
A week after the approval in the committee of United States Congress of the resolution “on Armenian genocide” the Swedish Parliament has by one voice approved the document which officially appreciates the so-called “genocide”.
As a sign of protest against the approval by Swedish Parliament and United States Congress of the resolution “on Armenian genocide” the official Ankara has recalled it’s ambassadors from these countries. The Head of Turkish Foreign Ministry named this decision of Swedish Parliament mistaken, and added that Turkey will never accept the accusations against it.
“This is a fundamental question (the accusations of “genocide”) for Turkey” – said Davutoglu. According to his words, the decision of Swedish Parliament was so mistaken and wrong that Turkish Prime-Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denied his visit to Stockholm.
On Friday evening Turkish ambassador in Sweden Zergun Korutturk who was recalled from Swedish capital for consultations, arrived to Ankara. Turkish ambassador, speaking to the journalist on her arrival to Istanbul expressed her regrets about the deterioration of relations between Stockholm and Amkara and has declared that the date of her return to Sweden is unknown yet.
Swedish side, expressing it’s attitude towards this question declared that the approval of the resolution “on Armenian genocide” will seriously impair the steps that are intended for the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations.
The Head of Department of the Interior Carl Bildt called not to politicize historical events.
