Arab League monitors begin visit to Hama

A group of Arab League monitors began Tuesday a visit to Syria's central province of Hama to assess the situation on the ground, Trend cites a delegate as saying.

The team, headed by Sudanese General Mohamad Ahmad Mustafa al-Dabi, will "observe the situation, hear the testimonies of residents, and inspect a number of public places, including hospitals," said the delegate.

He did not however say whether the team would visit detentions centres and prisons - which has been one of key requests of opposition activists.
