VK asked Andrey Areshev, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Eastern Studies Institute, to say some words about the main events of the year 2011.
"The year was saturated with various events, but I believe the most important thing is the so-called Arab Spring," Areshev said.
"The developments will affect the Caucasus - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and probably the unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia," the expert underlines.
According to the expert, in 2012 alot of various conflicts will unfold worsening the situation in the region.
