Georgian president meets election chief

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili met head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Zurab Kharatishvili, Georgia Online reports.

Saakashvili asked about preparations for the parliamentary polls planned for October. Kharatishvili noted that he is an independent judge and all subjects will have equal conditions at the elections.

President Saakashvili reminded about the need for political parties to reach an agreement on the Electoral Code. He added that amendments to the code need approval of the Venice Commission.
