Medvedev, Ahmadinejad discuss Iranian nuclear program

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have discussed a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in the Middle East, and the conflict in Syria in a telephone conversation, RIA Novosti reports.

The presidents expressed confidence that problems in the Middle East and Syria may be resolved only via political means and dialogue of all sides. They expressed support for efforts of the UN, regional and international organizations in settling the conflicts.

Medvedev noted that Ahmadinejad had praised his plan for settling the Iranian nuclear program stage-by-stage.

The sides spoke for activation of efforts to develop a convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea, noting importance of realizing agreements reached at the Third Caspian Summit in Baku.
