Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that Tehran wants to renew talks with the six mediators (the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany), preferably in Turkey, Trend reports.
The foreign minister referred to a dialogue on Afghanistan in Bonn with Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Back then Ashton offered negotiations with Said Jalili, Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council.
The six mediators, Russia, China, USA, France, UK and Germany, together with the IAEA, have been urging Iran to stop uranium enrichment since 2003, fearing that Tehran is working on nuclear weapons. The negotiations were stopped in 2009, when the IAEA condemned Iran for building the second facility for uranium enrichment and urged Iran to confirm that no other nuclear facilities had been built without the organization's concern.
