Membership in the UN Security Council will give Azerbaijan a platform to talk about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, former Swedish Foreign Minister and Incumbent Ambassador to the UN, Jean Eliasson, said, AzerTAG reports.
The ambassador emphasized that efforts of Baku draw attention to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The diplomat noted that Azerbaijani membership in the UN Security Council gives more influence on the world.
Being elected to the UN Security Council is a prestigious achievement because there are always many states competing to take a spot. Armenia is not a member of the UN Security Council and fears Azerbaijan for that reason.
