OSCE PA to monitor parliamentary polls in Janaozen

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will send observers to the Kazakh city of Janaozen in the Mangistau Region to monitor parliamentary polls on January 15, head of the OSCE PA mission Joao Soares said after meeting Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Trend reports.

Janaozen had mass disorders on December 16, resulting in 16 people killed and over 100 injured. Dozens of buildings and cars were burnt. Kazakh President Nursultant Nazarbayev imposed a state of emergency the next day. The state will last until January 31.
