Azerbaijani foreign minister meets chairwoman of UN Security Council

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmir Mammadyarov is on a visit to New York where he met Maite Emily Nkoana-Mashabane, South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation and Chairwoman of the UN Security Council, APA reports.

The sides exchanged views on improving bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and South Africa and development of cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest.

Mammadyarov discussed reforms in Azerbaijan, achievements and problems in the region. He also informed his counterpart about the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh. They agreed to make regular visits to each other’s states.

The Azerbaijani foreign minister also met Portuguese State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Luís Brites Pereira. They discussed improvement of ties within the framework of the UN and other international organizations.

They gave a high rating to Azerbaijani and Portuguese political and economic ties. The officials noted mutual interests in energy, infrastructure, TV communication and tourism projects.
