The UK has sent the destroyer “HMS Daring”, one of the most advanced British warships, to the Gulf, Interfax reports.
Analysts say that it should be an important signal to Iran. The British secretary for state for defense warned Iran that closing the Hormuz Strait is illegal and will not succeed. The UK would send more vessels if necessary.
The destroyer left the port of Portsmouth yesterday. It should arrive in the Gulf in late January 2012.
