Parliamentary elections will be held in Kazakhstan on January 15th, 2012. VK asked Leonid Gusev, member of the Moscow State Institute for Foreign Affairs, to comment on the current political situation in Kazakhstan.
He said it is clear the ruling Nur Otan party, backed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev, will win. Less certain, he said, was what party would finish second.
There are several other parties in the country. The Adiliyet party is oftern said to be the leading opposition body, but other parties (such as the Ak Zhol party) may receive even more votes, the expert said.
