Voter turnout hits over 35 percent in Kazakh elections for first five hours

                   


As of 12:00, about 35.3 percent of the total number of voters received the ballots  in Kazakhstan on January 15, Trend cites member of the country's Central Elections Commission   Usen Zhetenov as saying.

"According to the data provided by oblast, Astana and Almaty election commissions, as of 12:00, about 3.185.546 people or 35.3 percent of the total number of voters received the ballots," Zhetenov said.

About 10.9 percent voted in Astana, about 6.4 percent in Almaty, 44.7 percent - Akmola region, 31.1 percent - Aktobe region, 57.1 percent - Almaty region, 45.1 percent - Atyrau oblast, 43.5 percent - the East Kazakhstan region, 38 percent - Zhambyl, 22.1 percent - West Kazakhstan, 31.4 percent - Karaganda, 56.2 percent - Kostanay, 55.6 percent - Kyzylorda, 23.3 percent - Mangystau, 33.3 percent - Pavlodar, 47.3 percent - North Kazakhstan, 19.4 percent - South-Kazakhstan region.

The elections to Majilis and maslikhats are held today in Kazakhstan. The preliminary election results will be announced on January 16.

The Nur Otan national-democratic party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide social-democratic party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
