Putin sets out basis for presidential bid

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putting has explained his reasons for running for president in 2012 in an article. He said that he needs to conclude establishment of the state as a sustainable and healthy organism, RIA Novosti reports.

The prime minister reminded that he came to power as a PM and then president in 1999 with the country in a “deep systemic crisis”. Putin and his supporters, assisted by the majority of the population, prevented a civil war, beat terrorism, restored territorial unity and constitutional order, revived economy and achieved one of the highest economic rates in the world for 10 years, he said.

Vladimir Putin said that his current goal is to remove all existing obstacles from national development, conclude formation of political system, develop social guarantees and protect citizens, enforce justice and dignity of every person.

The global economic recession in 2008, Putin believes, affected everyone. Wealth is generated unequally and is distributed between states and regions, reducing global stability, provoking conflicts.

The prime minister reminded that Russian economy had achieved a major boost before the global recession, paid the debts off, increased income, formed reserves. Pensions and other social benefits increased.
