Nine candidates for the Kazakh People’s Assembly have entered the lower chamber of parliament, Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Astana Marat Aubakirov said at the 18th session of the Assembly.
The lower chamber of parliament consists of 107 deputies. 98 of them are directly elected according to party lists. 9 other deputies are elected by the People’s Assembly.
The Electoral Commission had 390 representatives at the People’s Assembly. 335 of them voted.
There were 9 candidates: Jumalat Aliyev, head of the Sustainable Kazakhstan Foundation, Murat Ahmadiyev, a Board member of the republican center, Yegor Kappel, a member of the association of Kazakh Germans “Vozrozhdeniye”, Roman Kim, the chairman of the Korean association, Ahmet Muradov, a co-chair of the association for development of Chechen and Ingush cultures “Vaynakh”, Nadezhda Nesterova, deputy chairwoman of the Zhambylskaya Region, member of the association of Russian, Slav and Cossack organizations, Zukhra Sayapova, head of the Tatar-Bashkir enthnocultural association “Tan” of Astana, Yuri Timoshenko, deputy chairman of the People’s Assembly, chairman of the association “Rada Ukraintsev Kazakhstana”, and Rozakul Khalmuradov, the honorary chairman of the republican Uzbek ethnocultural association “Dustlik”.
