"Paralyzing" economic sanctions have been excluded from the project of
the UN Security Council resolution and the amendments of the
non-permanent members of the Security Council have been taken into
consideration. The statement document focuses on nuclear
nonproliferation issues and confirms readiness to begin negotiations
with Iran, the Foreign Ministers of Russia and China noted, RIA
Novosti reports.
"Our partners have drawn up a document, which neither Russia nor China
could support. But after intensive consultations, "paralyzing"
economic sanctions have been excluded," - Lavrov said.
The project involves a two-sided approach and the initiatives proposed
by Turkey and Brazil on enriched uranium exchange. Thus the resolution
covers the position of most of the Security Council members. Russia
and China stand against forcing a vote on the resolution, in order for
the non-permanent members to examine the documents and introduce their
amendments.
