Georgian concerned over Russian military drills in Caucasus

The Georgian Foreign Ministry accused Russia of militarizing the “occupied territories” of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgia says that Russia is constantly bringing more arms to the area, provoking tensions in the whole Black Sea region, Trend reports.

N. Makarov, Chief of Russian General Staff, said in December 2011 that there were strategic command training planned for September 2012, codenamed “Caucasus-2012”.

Georgia emphasizes that the new drills will be held in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, unlike the previous ones. The Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry, FSB, Emergencies Ministry, FSO and other structures will take part with use of electronic, space recon systems and drones.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry urges the international community to pay attention to Russia's “aggressive” actions.
