The National Democratic Party Nur Otan, chaired by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, has received 83 seats in the lower chamber of parliament, Secretary of the Central Electoral Commission Bakhyt Meldeshov said.
The Democratic Party Ak Zhol got 8 mandates, the People’s Communist Party – 7.
Nur Otan got 80.99% of the vote, Ak Zhol – 7.47%, the Communists – 7.19%.
Kazakhstan held off-year parliamentary polls on January 15, with over 75% of the population casting their ballots.
The Kazakh lower chamber of parliament consists of 107 deputies. 98 of them are elected via direct secret vote.
