Brazil is concerned over new EU sanctions against Iran, Brazilian Minister of External Relations Antonio Patriota said at a meeting with his British counterpart William Hague, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Brazilian minister said that his state does not support sanctions of the UN Security Council. He expressed skepticism over EU sanctions, noting that they would mainly harm the population of Iran. Brazil speaks for dialogue with Tehran, the official emphasizes.
Hague said that London wants more pressure against Iran to convince it to start honest talks. Decisions on the new sanctions have not been made yet, he reminds. The topic and the oil embargo against Iran will be discussed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
