Former Russian finance minister slams government's economic policy

 

Former Russian Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin says the government's economic policy is extremely unwise.

Addressing the Gaidar Forum today, Kudrin said that the government should raise the retirement age and cut defense spending immediately before it's too late, former deputy head of the Central Bank Sergey Aleksashenko quotes Kudrin in his blog.

Kudirn has also said that Russia has no chance and no need to compete with the United States in the sphere of defense.

Sergey Aleksashenko, who is currently the deputy director of the Higher School of Economics, Russia's top higher educational institution, has always said that intensive defense programs would bring the Russian economy to collapse in 2-3 years.
