Former Russian prime minister urges president's resignation

Former Russian prime minister and leader of the opposition People's Freedom Party, Mikhail  Kasyanov, says President Dmitry Medvedev should resign next month so that presidential elections will be held in May and not in March.

This will allow the State Duma to adopt new election legislation and bring more candidates to the ballot.

The former prime minister urges opposition activists to increase pressure on the Russian authorities and show them that popular protests will not end.
