The League of Arab States on Sunday adopted a decision to continue the mission to monitor the situation in Syria.
This is stated in a report on the results of the meeting. "In accordance with paragraphs of the protocol, signed with Damascus, the Arab League ministerial committee has decided to give observers time to continue their mission," the report states.
The LAS mission started its work on December 26 under a plan agreed with the government to establish a dialogue between the government and opposition. 163 observers from 12 Arab states are currently working in Syria. They are mostly in conflict zones, where unrest persists.
