UN celebrates Russian language Day

Today, on the anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, within the programme of development and support for multilinguism and cultural diversity, the UN has celebrated Russian language Day for the first time, reports RIA Novosti.
One aim of the programmme is to support equality of all six official UN languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and French.
