Chechen leader not seeking higher state position

Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that he does not seek a higher ranking positions and plans to leave politics in the future, RIA Novosti reports.

Kadyrov said that he has reached the age when he wants to stress on “personal life”. He warned media against interpretation his words as readiness for resignation.

Journalists asked Kadyrov to comment on prospects of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as candidate for president. The Chechen leader expressed confidence in Putin’s victory in the first round of vote. He added that there are no real candidates and the candidates running for president should not show themselves to people. New people should appear, he concludes.
