The US has not decided on the day of closing the embassy in Damascus and expects the Syrian government to respond to enforcement of the embassy’s security, RIA Novosti reports.
The State Department said on January 21 that it would close the embassy in Syria by February 2012. The embassy’s staff has been reduced on several occasions. The US State Department urged its citizens to avoid visiting Syria and requested all Americans there to leave.
Spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nuland said that they want the Syrian government to respond as soon as possible.
