The bill criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide passed by the French Senate violates freedom of speech and the human rights, Ali Hasanov, head of the socio-political department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, said, Trend reports.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Khulusi Kylydzh shares the view, adding that it violates the French democratic principles.
Turkey thanks Azerbaijan for its people and government's protest against the French bill.
The French Senate (upper chamber) gave 127 votes for the bill and 86 against on January 23. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan also warned France about counter measures.
