The European Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg, has met with imprisoned Ukrainian opposition leader Yuliya Tymooshenko's daughter and deputy head of the Fatherland party, led by Tymoshenko, Ekho Moskvy reports.
The EU official underlined that the European Union pays special attention to the case and believes that the coming elections won't be legal without Tymoshenko's presence.
Former Ukrainian prime minister Yuliya Tymoshenko is President Victor Yanukovich's major political rival. Yanukovich won the previous presidential elections with only a slight majority of votes.
Tymoshenko was recently found guilty of abuse of power by a Kiev court and sentenced to several years imprisonment.
