Rebels stop Assad’s family from leaving Syria

The Free Syrian Army (CCA) prevented President Bashar Assad’s family from leaving the country on Sunday, RIA Novosti reports.

A group of governmental cars tried to enter the Damascus International Airport. A shootout started between the opposition forces and president’s security. A helicopter aided the special forces. The convoy was forced to return back to the residence of Assad.

According to a field commander of the CCA, Bashar Assad’s wife and children, his mother Anisa Mahlouf, nephew Rami Mahlouf with children were in the convoy.

No official comments have been made by the government.
