The Syrian army has cleared the eastern suburbs of Damascus from rebels and
restored control over the area, RIA-Novosti reports, referring to Al Watan
Daily.
Government media said "terrorists" had blown up a gas pipeline in the
central province of Homs, causing a leak of about 460,000 cubic meters of
gas.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Sunday’s fighting
killed 66 people, including 26 civilians.
At least 5,400 people have been killed in the government's 10-month
crackdown on protesters, according to the UN. The Syrian authorities blame the
violence on armed gangs affiliated with al-Qaeda and say more than 2,000
soldiers and police have been killed.
