Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives in Turkey on Monday for
the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia
(CICA summit), which Turkey will host on June 8. The summit will see a
discussion of regional security issues, mutual cooperation, and ways
of solving regional problems.
Within the visit, Ahmadinejad will discuss issues related to a recent
uranium exchange deal brokered by Turkey and Brazil with Prime
Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Under the deal, Iran agreed to exchange 1,200 kg of low enriched
uranium for 20-percent enriched fuel in Turkey. Western powers were
unconvinced by the deal however, and the UN Security Council is
holding discussions on new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear
program.
After Turkey, Ahmadinejad will visit Tajikistan, and then China.
Within the four-day visit to Beijing, issues related to Iran's nuclear
program will be discussed, Trend reports.
