Georgian Interior Ministry has new suspicions on Russia’s involvement in terrorism

 

A man detained near a police station of the Zugdidsky District in Georgia us suspected in terrorism, Echo Kavkaza cites Shota Ituashvili, head of the Department for Information and Analytics of the Interior Ministry, as saying.

The man was detained at the police station of the Darcheli Village on January 25. He carried an explosive device, supposedly received in Abkhazia.

Utiashvili has not named the suspect, only emphasizing that he is a local from the Galsky District.

According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, several locals from Abkhazia and South Ossetia organized 12 terrorist attacks in Tbilisi and Western Georgia. Five terrorist attacks were prevented. The Georgian law enforcers believe that Russian FSB (intelligence services) ordered the terrorist attacks.

Utiashvili did not give clear comments on involvement of Russian intelligence in attempts to blow up a Georgian police station last week.
