The Azerbaijani parliament filed a bid to the International Olympic Committee to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Baku in 2020 today.
The executive committee for promotion of Azerbaijan for hosting the games of 2020 held a session in Baku in late December 2011. The committee set goals, one of which was to send the Candidature File to the IOC by February 15, Kenul Nurullayeva, Executive Director of the Baku-2020 Committee, said in December.
The file consists of 97 pages with information on economy and culture of the city, infrastructure projects and stadiums. The Candidature File will be presented in Azerbaijan on February 12-13.
The International Olympic Committee put Baku in the list of cities bidding to host the Olympic Games 2020. Other candidates are Madrid, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul and Doha. The first presentation will be held in February. on September 7, 2013, Buenos Aires, Argentina, will host announcement of the city to hold the Summer Olympic Games 2020.
