US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Georgia a valuable partner at a meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili at the State Department late on Wednesday, Trend reports.
Clinton said that US interest in Georgia grows and is a good example of partner relations. Georgia assists in the operation in Afghanistan. The sides continue consultations on free trade and investments. They also hold numerous conferences and talks on cooperation in culture, education, healthcare and legislature, the US official said.
The Georgian president thanked the US for support of the country’s territorial unity and sovereignty. He noted that they had entered a new stage of cooperation. No one expected the two states to start free trade a few years ago, Saakashvili notes.
President Saakashvili reminded Clinton that Georgia is expecting her visit in February.
