A working group of the Council for Human Rights for Civil Participation in the Legal Sphere requested amnesty for over 30 convicts accused of crime, including former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Menatep Group CEO Platon Lebedev, RIA Novosti cites Valentine Gefter, Director of the Institute for Human Rights, as saying.
Tamara Morshakova, former Judge of the Russian Constitutional Court and a member of the working group, emphasized that the president may pardon the convict before an amnesty decision is made.
The list of people under doubtful persecution consists of 5 scientists, 12 people charged for business activity, 5 suspected in terrorism, 8 jailed for civil activity and protests. Taisia Osipova, a member of Other Russia, is among the latter.
