The Russian Defense Ministry and its departments has developed an agreement to sign with Tajikistan, regarding the presence of a Russian military base in the republic, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said, Trend reports.
A project of the document was sent to Afghanistan in late November 2011. Its signing will be determined by how fast Tajikistan will study it.
The 201st Russian base in Tajikistan operates according to the deal that stays in force until October 2014.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met in Dushanbe in September 2011. Medvedev expressed hope that the document will be signed by March 2012 for 49 years.
