Russia will develop a 30-year plan for development of the navy by June 2012, Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin, the government's supervisor of military industry, said in his Twitter microblog on Sunday, RIA Novosti reports.
About 4.7 trillion rubles will be spent on rearming the navy within the state program for 2011-2020. 85 billion rubles will be spent on construction of nuclear submarines, frigates, repairs and maintenance of vessels, over 93 have been provided this year.
The Russian Naval Forces will remain based on underwater vessels. It will be enforced with two types of atomic submarines and two types of diesel-electric submarines. This includes Borey, strategic nuclear submarines with Bulava missiles. A total of 8 submarines will be built, one of their types, called Yuri Dolgoruki, is undergoing tests, three others are under construction.
