South Ossetian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Medoyev does not rule out running for president, RIA Novosti reports.
The Supreme Court of South Ossetia called the elections on November 27, 2011, invalid due to numerous violations. The South Ossetian CEC will conclude registration of initiative groups of candidates on February 9. Signature lists are to be handed by February 19. The list of candidates will be published on February 29.
CEC Chairwoman Bella Pliyeva said that she had been informed about a meeting of Medoyev’s initiative group at the local science research institute at 12 pm on February 7.
Dmitry Medoyev has been the South Ossetian Ambassador to Russia since 2008. Before that, he was a plenipotentiary envoy to Russia and a foreign minister earlier.
