N. Ossetian head says ministers, regional authorities last to receive wages

North Ossetian Leader Taymuraz Mamsurov has prohibited ministers and regional heads to receive wages ahead of their staff. Such sudden statement was made after Mamsurov received a complaint about functionaries going on New Year vacation without paying off budget debts, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

Mamsurov made blamestorming at an off-schedule session. He said that it was the first time there had been late wage payments despite lack of financial resources. The state leader reminded that the functionaries had been saving every penny in the 1990s, people had been receiving no wages, pensions, child benefits. He urged ministers and region heads to consider the problem from the view of doctors, teachers or other state employees, who had to celebrate the New Year without wages.

Nikolai Khlyntsov, Chairman of government, was ordered to set a rule for ministers to be the last in the structures to receive wages. “Not a single minister will receive payments until the very last janitor or watchmen receives wages”, Mamsurov said.

The Finances Ministry said that payment issuing had started. 33 social, 29 cultural and 27 sports structures received payments for December and January. 38 out of 47 education centers have received wages. Healthcare centers will be paid soon.
