Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Intelligence Chief Mikhail Fradkov have started negotiations with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus, ITAR-TASS reports.
Lavrov expressed interest of all states in preserving peace of Arab peoples. He emphasized that any state authority needs to understand share of responsibility for people.
Hundreds of thousands of students, old people and children greeted Lavrov and Fradkov. Many expressed gratefulness to Russia and China. Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria, is having a mass meeting, its attendants thank Russia for protecting Syrian sovereignty.
Vestnik Kavkaza said that Russia and China had vetoed the resolution proposed by Morocco at the UN Security Council. The resolution demanded resignation of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Many Western states blame Russia for the disorders in Syria for Moscow’s being too uncomplying.
