The Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) oppression of the people of Turkey will not endure, the leader of the Turkish major opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, said in a recent opinion article he wrote for The Washington Post, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
Kılıçdaroğlu voiced concern about Turkey’s judicial system, which he said was heavily influenced by the political party in power.
“At work is an insidious attack on the rule of law by Turkey’s governing party,” Kılıçdaroğlu wrote, reflecting on his visits to Silivri Prison, where “hundreds of journalists, publishers, military officers, academics and politicians are being held.”
The piece further mentioned the recent inquiry into his comments on the state of the judicial system and the similar judicial issues that his party experienced.
